This little black fire opal found its way into my rock collecting bag commonly confused with being a dog poo bag. This was Craig's reaction from the Royal Peacock Opal Mine in Nevada! After Craig took the time to show me what I was looking for he took off to check on the other person digging in the new section, Learning the oldest tailing piles had some of the best pieces. I went down the hill a bit and parked. That's where this one was waiting! Getting out of the jeep, Looked up at a spot on the hill! Something said go there! Looking down I saw a glimpse of something! Craig had said. "if it glimmers look at it, pick it up!" With his voice in my head. I reached for it! Holy shit! I couldn't believe it!

Five minutes later I found something with black and rainbows! Carefully I placed it in my collection bag! Eagerly I waited for Craig to return to verify my find! Seeing his truck I speedily walked over! Pulling our my bag and after answering yes this is a dog poo bag or a multi use bag! I handed him my find! His reply, "this one is special"! Woot woot! This being a black fire opal it produced the oranges and reds plus the normal greens and blues in other precious opals. The sea horse opal is one Craig tossed me! It was nearing the end of the time to dig.  Craig finding something get excited and then says, “oh man, it broke, I think your still gonna like it!” Catching it, there was no disappointment! Craig was right! Being broken in half the rainbow of colors shimmered with the glow of he sun! It was beautiful! Thanks to Craig’s generosity this picture was able to come to life!

The Chrysocolla was collected in northern Reno at an old abandoned mine. Right off Hwy 395, sit mounds of blues and greens scattered and staggered up the mountain side. Pulling in and walking the rest of the way to each tailing pile, Higher up ones are said o have bigger finds, No matter which one you pick, the view of the valley and mountains wrapping around in all directions paired with a bitchin western mountain sunset made for a perfect find!

I used the super macro at 3x over my normal macro setup. Doing this helped to turn the magic up allowing the viewer to step inside what would normally be stepped on or missed entirely!  This is another one you will want to take your time! Do you happen to see the penguin, floating duck, or frowning turtle? The galaxies to explore in the sea horse opal. Scale the opal wall or slide down the rainbow slide! Let your imagination run wild discovering new shapes!
